Vegan Glasgow’s best Potluck event so far!

Potlucks are always really popular social events, and it’s easy to understand why. They offer delicious homemade food, opportunities to showcase your culinary skills, meet fellow vegans, exchange recipes, and enjoy a relaxed atmosphere without the formality that sometimes comes with restaurant meetups.

We organise potluck events every few months and have tried various venues to find the ideal location. Initially, we hosted at the Old Hairdresser’s pub opposite Stereo, a fully vegan-friendly place we were happy to support. Later, we tested a community centre in Garnethill, which was practical but didn’t quite match our needs.

We’re now excited to announce our new permanent venue—the Gamer Club on Bath Lane.

Our latest potluck was brilliant. It started at 3 PM, with some attendees staying well past midnight. Our guests brought incredible dishes, including homemade brownies, pesto pasta, vibrant quinoa salads, and much more.

We’re already really looking forward to the next potluck. If you’d like to come along please join the meetup group and you’ll be notified as soon as the next potluck is posted on the events page.

A Perfect Day in Perth: Vegan Glasgow & Vegan Edinburgh’s Latest Adventure

Over the past year, Vegan Glasgow and Vegan Edinburgh have teamed up to host joint events, an excellent idea put forward by one of Vegan Edinburgh’s organisers. These gatherings have successfully connected the vegan communities from both cities. With Glasgow and Edinburgh relatively close, our events typically take place at convenient locations in between. This time we chose to explore Perth.

Our trip to Perth was perfectly timed, offering fantastic weather for the day’s activities. We started the day with lunch at Rascals Café, a highly recommended vegan spot. If you haven’t checked out Rascals Café yet, you’re missing out. Dodie, the owner and founder, warmly welcomed us, ensuring everyone felt comfortable. The food was exceptional, as was the service.

Following lunch, we spent the afternoon exploring Perth’s sights and enjoying the great weather.

Below you’ll find some photos from the day. Make sure to follow our Meetup events page, as we have more joint events with Vegan Edinburgh coming soon and plenty more planned throughout the year.

Glasgow’s Vegan Community Celebrates Soul Food Kitchen One Last Time

On the 3rd of March, we got the disappointing news that Soul Food Kitchen would be permanently closing at the end of the month. I’d just been planning to feature Soul Food Kitchen on the “Glasgow’s Best Vegan Spots” page when I heard the news. Gutted! 😞

Soul Food Kitchen wasn’t just any vegan restaurant; it was a special place with amazing food, welcoming staff, and a brilliant atmosphere. With its closure, there’s now a clear gap in Glasgow’s vegan scene—there really isn’t another spot quite like it.

To celebrate what Soul Food Kitchen meant to us, Vegan Glasgow organised a final meetup there. We had a fantastic turnout, around 25 people joined for a wonderful evening. As always, the food was delicious and the staff made it an evening to remember. Afterwards, a few of us carried on the night with drinks and dancing at Mango.

Huge thanks to everyone at Soul Food Kitchen for giving us so many memorable meals and good times. Thanks also to everyone who came along to celebrate and say goodbye.

Here are some photos from our final night at Soul Food Kitchen—enjoy!

Make a Difference: Join National Animal Rights Day in Glasgow!

National Animal Rights Day

National Animal Rights Day (NARD) is a global event observed in over 50 countries on the first Sunday of June each year. This year, Glasgow’s event will take place a day earlier, on Saturday, May 31.

NARD is a powerful and moving event that brings the animal rights community together—offering a space to mourn the lives lost to industries that exploit animals while also celebrating progress and inspiring change. The event will feature a march through the city, along with speeches and moments of reflection.

🛑 Why Should You Join?
Vegan Glasgow is primarily a social group, and we understand that activism isn’t for everyone. But we’d love to see as many people as possible come out and march with us. Last year, only three members of Vegan Glasgow attended—let’s change that this year!

A strong turnout shows that there is a growing movement for animal rights here in Scotland, and simply being present makes an impact.

Whether you’re an activist, new to veganism, or just want to show support, your presence matters.

📢 What to Expect
The event will feature a march through Glasgow to raise awareness, along with speeches from activists and organisers.
This is a great chance to connect with like-minded people who care about animals.

More details will be posted as they become available.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask—I’m happy to help! We really appreciate any support you can give, and we’d love to see a much bigger turnout from Vegan Glasgow this year.

Hope to see you there!

Because forgetting them is not an option!
